Self Reliance

This is in continuation of my earlier blog:
Inheriting values:

Mother and Nani both of them are the symbol of simplicity and full of values. Their values are such which never shake in any condition. My Nani and my mother used to tell me only one thing “ pls get educated well, we were not having any opportunity but you should all, and do everything, you are free to, only two things you should not BE DOING and not allowed to do- Burglary/Thieve and Prostitution” I am telling you the word she was using for prostitution in Gujarati I was not aware what it was, but could understand it later on. All other values were by default to be followed.
I was not aware what Gandhian Value was though, for me my parents and Nani was the ideal and whatever they do was the values. However Gandhian Values were given from the school days, since no. of things were part of the school discipline following Gandhian Values. The wall of school is with full of Gandhi’s photo and have seen it from the Bal Mandir Day. It was girl’s school and for orphan girls. Only Khadi uniform was allowed and it was mandatory to wear Khadi uniform. Prayer in the morning is must. Every Saturday there was Gita Adhyay and Vaishanv Jan to ene re kahie je pid parai jane re…! (The famous bhajan which was very dear to Gandhiji written by Narsimha Mehtaji). I remember I used to speak Gita Adhyay- I have never seen the same in writing though, I did not know what it was, but I knew and today it is difficult for me to even remember.
Everything, values or anything is a matter of practice and habit.
Also it is very strange sometime we don’t know why we are doing certain things but we do it and many time we know we should be not doing it but we do it.

On my own with merit :

When we shifted house my sister caught with Polio, one of the major reason was also no. of guest at home she could not meet the date of vaccination of Polio. So, the entire family’s attention was on her, how she could be recovered! So the younger brother among the twin was also not given attention, and we were also so young and unable to take his responsibility, so I can say we all were on our own.
My primary education was in a school which is considered below than average by the normal people, and nobody would prefer to enroll their children in such school, but I am proud of having an education in real critical financial situation of my family and more importantly in that school. It was the best education to me; I always thanked that education at each and every level of life.
With that education I could enroll myself in best school for higher secondary education and also have been able to enroll in one of the best commerce college in Ahmadabad. That was because of the good result in standard 10th.
It was the time when the personal coaching classes have emerged, I have seen them with distances, and for me at that time I could only afford to see them at distances. (Oh pls. don’t misunderstand that today situation is better and one can afford better life) I very much remember some students of neighborhood used to attend those classes and I was having that inferiority complex and feeling that all of them are going to get best marks and how I am going to compete?. But I was the top scorer among them, from the students of commerce stream.
So that gives me confidence that something is there in our inside and that can never be underestimated.
Conti.
